Counselor/Fla Registered MH Broward

Job Summary:

The Counselor under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, is responsible for psychosocial assessments of adults diagnosed with psychiatric illness, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders to determine candidate’s program eligibility and the development and implementation of needs based Individual Treatment/Life Plans.

Credentials, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in social service field.  Florida Department of Health Mental Health Registered Intern.
  • Fulfill credentialing requirements per agency policy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to assess participant needs and ensure confidentiality.
  • Administrative self-sufficiency including computer proficiency.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and safe driving record.  Must meet insurability standards in order to drive.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform pre and post-admission psychosocial assessments to determine participants eligibility for housing, resources and discharge planning.Provide supportive counseling for the prevention of relapse and psychiatric hospitalization.

  • Develop Individual Treatment/Life Plans with easily attainable goals based on identified needs.Ensure that services are delivered as prescribed and documented in compliancewith funder requirements, other federal, state and county regulations and agency standards.

  • Regularly review participant’s Treatment/Life Plan progress to analyze functioning and/or setbacks. Respond and adapt plan accordingly to ensure ongoing success.

  • Organize and facilitate individual and group sessions to help maximize participants ability to independently meet their needs, engage in community support activities, develop structured self-governance and increase positive communications.

Normal Working Hours and Conditions:

  • A 40 hour workweek.
  • Weekends or evenings as required.
  • Some travel may be required.
