Peer Specialist- Cocoa 11/2/2020

Job Summary:
The Peer Specialist in the role of Support Aide IV under supervision to advocate and assist in providing solutions and support services to enable their assigned caseload of participants to function as independently as possible. 

Credentials, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma and 4 years’ experience working with special needs population.

  • Compassion and ability to assist participants with mastering life skills which will result in self sufficiency.

  • Fulfill credentialing requirements per agency policy.In programs billing Medicaid services, Support Aides will obtain and maintain a Certified Behavioral Health Technician certification.

  • Must have an active interest in advocacy of persons with mental illness.
  • Experience with substance abuse.
  • Administrative self-sufficiency including computer proficiency.

  • Possess valid driver’s license with safe driving record. Must meet insurability standards in order to drive.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in a team approach to develop and implement Treatment/Life Plans to promote progress towards independent living and self-sufficiency.Regularly review and analyze participant functioning to determine progress, identify setbacks and adjust Treatment/Life Plans accordingly.

  • Ensure that participant services including those related to discharge are provided timely and correspond to specific needs, goals and objectives of their Treatment/ Life Plans.

  • Maintain close working relationships with local service providers to ensure delivery of quality services. Meet program outcomes and comply with all pertinent federal, state, and county regulatory agencies.

  • Complete required documentation and incident reports according to agency and funders guidelines.

Normal Working Hours and Conditions:

  • 40 hour workweek.
  • Occasional weekend or evening as required.
  • Some travel may be required.

Rate of Pay:
This is an hourly position with an entry level rate $13.46 per hour.
